A crown covers a tooth that is too broken down or too heavily filled to be restored with a filling — commonly after root canal treatment or a large fracture. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by joining to the teeth on either side.
Materials range from all-ceramic to metal-ceramic and zirconia. Which is appropriate depends on where the tooth sits, how hard you bite, and how much the appearance matters at that position.
